Wickaninnish Inn Named One of BC’s Best Places to Work

(Tofino BC) Working at a remote Inn, with the closest Starbucks or Wal-Mart being an hour’s drive from work, may seem to be a tough row to hoe for many. However, for the 150 employees of the elegant Wickaninnish Inn who have chosen the quaint village of Tofino, BC as their home, and the Wick as their employer, nothing could be further from the truth. This team of happy hoteliers participated in the Top Employers annual competition and with their comments and votes, named The Wickaninnish Inn as one of the best places to work in British Columbia.

There are No Cows on Vancouver’s North Shore
The story of Vancouver’s North Shore 2010 Celebration Bear Bells

North Vancouver) Traditionally in Europe when one attends a ski event, the noise maker of choice is a cow bell. Well, we don’t have cows on Vancouver’s North Shore, nor are there any cows in Whistler. Knowing local residents would want to make noise and demonstrate their enthusiasm this winter, a number of community groups and businesses banded together to create the most coveted item for the winter of 2010, The North Shore Bear Bells.

Stormy Weather. at the Wickaninnish Inn
New Year's Eve at the Wick 2007

Billie Holiday said it for us. and that is just what storm watchers love about the Wickaninnish Inn. Nestled in temperate rain forest on the west coast of Vancouver Island, the winter storms that pound crashing waves against the Inn are delightfully consistent. The howling winds never slow and the tap, tap, tap of the gentle rains are always present.

Ten Years of Storm Watching at the Wickaninnish Inn

Winter storms have been battering the west coast of Vancouver Island for thousands of years. Wickaninnish Inn guests have been flocking to Tofino, BC for the last 10 years to witness the furry of the storms.

Ten years ago, the McDiarmid Family opened the doors of the Wickaninnish Inn to world travelers. At that time, Charles McDiarmid, Managing Director of the Inn, knew his challenge was entice visitors to come to Tofino in the winter.

Hottest New Breakfast Fad Only at SUBWAY® Restaurants and Only in BC!
SUBWAY® Breakfast "Stuffers"

(Vancouver) The newest worldwide breakfast fad is about to begin, and the trend setters of B.C. are leading the charge once again. The hottest new craze in breakfast is the SUBWAY® Breakfast "Stuffer"...

B.C. has become a cutting edge society, leading the world in so many ways. The Olympic Committee recognized our status. We therefore have 2010 helping to showcase B.C. to the world. But we have many other "firsts" that have brought our fair province much deserved notoriety. We had the first LuLuLemon stores. Canadian operations for Starbucks started in Vancouver. The iconic Keg Restaurants also started in Vancouver. So, when looking for a Canadian test market to roll out an entirely new and exciting breakfast program, why wouldn't SUBWAY® restaurants pick B.C.? Why indeed?
